State Drought Level 1 Declaration

Tapwater

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division declared a portion of the State, including Lamar County, to be in a Drought Level 1 condition. As water sources throughout the State reach critical low levels it is imperative that all water system users make every effort to reduce non-essential water use.

Effective immediately, the City of Barnesville is implementing the following water use conservation requirements per the Georgia EPD Drought Level 1 Response requirements.

The Level 1 Drought Restriction is a precaution to keep water stored in our reservoir at an acceptable level for critical activities such as firefighting, drinking, and cooking.

Until further notice, residents are asked to reduce or postpone all non-essential water use including:

  • Watering lawns, gardens, and trees
  • Washing cars
  • Cleaning exterior of houses or driveways with water

The City of Barnesville urges its water system users to conserve water by any reasonable means in addition to adhering to these conservation requirements.
